The Park Education Support Centre (ESC) is a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) and was opened in May 1996. In September 2007 the existing provision was expanded to include a KS4 Learning Centre.
The KS3 Centre, Outreach Centre and the KS4 Learning Centre are situated on two sites in Potters Bar and provide educational programmes to support pupils who are 'at serious risk' of permanent exclusion or who have been permanently excluded from their mainstream school and live in the Welwyn, Hatfield and Hertsmere Double District.
We pride ourselves in providing a warm and friendly centre with a very clear and structured behaviour policy. Our vision and core purpose is to meet the needs and support our young people with their learning and to prepare them for living an independent and purposeful life through a broad, balanced curriculum and good quality teaching, care and guidance.
At KS3 the focus of our onsite work is to re-engage the pupils with their learning and reintegrate them into a mainstream school setting. We also have an outreach team who work closely with all of our primary and secondary partner schools in supporting the management of pupils who present with challenging behaviours.
At KS4 we provide an alternative provision for young people where it is acknowledged that a mainstream school setting is not meeting their needs. They have a variety of learning pathways to follow which include an academic route.
